  • BUGFIX: In Ask, after you thanked it and then asked a follow-up, the answer ended with "Nothing in this group's archive matched your search" even though it had answered from the earlier results. The thank-you turn stored no search results, and the follow-up reused that empty set. Follow-ups now reuse the results of the last answer that had any, and the no-results note is only added when a search actually ran. https://beta.groups.io/g/ai/message/177
  • BUGFIX: In Ask, a long request that contained a capitalized AND, such as "find all files whose titles include X AND whose content includes Y", was treated as search-engine syntax and sent to the search engine as a literal query, so every word had to match and nothing was found. Only short queries are now treated as search syntax; longer requests are read as questions. https://beta.groups.io/g/ai/message/177
  • CHANGE: When you ask Ask to look only in the Files section, it now considers up to 50 matching files instead of 10, so lists of files are less likely to be cut short. Punctuation typed inside quotes, like "pathology," is no longer treated as part of the quoted word. https://beta.groups.io/g/ai/message/177
  • CHANGE: Ask now reads the rest of the discussion around each message it finds, not just the message that matched your words, since the answer to a question is usually in the replies. It also ranks what it found before writing, so the most relevant messages are read first.
  • CHANGE: Ask answers now cite their sources with numbered links, and every link is checked against the sources Ask actually read before the answer is shown, so a link can no longer point at something that wasn't there. Each answer ends with a Sources list naming the cited messages, wiki pages, and files, with their senders and dates.
  • BUGFIX: A very large message or file among Ask's search results could stop every result after it from being read. Each document is now limited to a reasonable length, and one that doesn't fit no longer blocks the rest.
  • BUGFIX: Ask answers that took longer than a minute to generate caused the connection to drop and reconnect as soon as the answer arrived.
  • BUGFIX: After an Ask question failed, the Post to group button on later answers in the same session could post the wrong answer or fail until the page was reloaded.
  • CHANGE: Follow-up questions in Ask make one call to decide whether a new search is needed and what to search for, instead of two, so they start faster.
  • CHANGE: Ask questions are limited to 4,000 characters.
  • INTERNAL: Ask answers are now cleaned the same way as other member content before being shown. The Ask conversation is sent to the answering model as separate turns rather than one transcript, and stored conversations keep only the newest answer's search results, so long chats no longer grow without bound. Each stage of answering (search, ranking, answer) now logs how long it took.
  • CHANGE: The Mute button on topic and message pages was orange, so it looked like the topic had already been muted. Mute, Unmute, Follow, and Unfollow are now plain grey buttons. When a topic is muted or followed, a Muted or Followed badge now appears next to the button, so you can tell the current state at a glance. The same applies to the Mute, Unmute, Follow, Unfollow, Mute/Notify, and Follow/Notify buttons for hashtags on the hashtag search results and the Hashtags list. The Edit button for hashtag owners on the hashtag search results, which was also orange, is now blue, like the Edit Tag button on the Hashtags list. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41413
  • BUGFIX: HEIC photos could not be uploaded to a Photos album. Browsers that can't display HEIC, including Chrome and Edge on most Windows computers, don't identify those files as images, so the uploader rejected them with "You can't upload files of this type", and HEIC files didn't appear when choosing photos. HEIC and HEIF photos can now be uploaded to albums, and they are converted to JPEG, as they already were when posting messages. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41431
  • BUGFIX: Dragging a HEIC photo into the message editor showed "Dropped file type is not supported". HEIC and HEIF photos dropped into the editor are now converted to JPEG and inserted where you drop them. HEIF files attached to a message from the website are now also converted to JPEG, like HEIC files. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41433
  • BUGFIX: Replies sent to the moderators from the website never reached them. The message was rejected by our own mail server, so only the BCC Me copy, if requested, was delivered, even though the website said it had been sent. Because the message never arrived, it was also missing from the member's Owner Messages history and from the Activity log. Replies to the moderators are now delivered to them with the https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41439
  • BUGFIX: When a moderator replied to the sender or to the moderators, the Send As Special Notice option could still be checked, although it only applies to messages sent to the group. It is now unchecked and greyed out unless the reply is going to the group. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41439
  • CHANGE: The Moderator Note tooltip on the Members page and a member's page showed only the last 300 characters of a long note. That suited moderators who add new entries at the bottom, but not those who add them at the top. Long notes now show their beginning and their end, separated by an ellipsis, and the tooltip shows up to 400 characters. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41434
  • CHANGE: In the Set Labels window on a member's page and the Change Member Labels window on the Members page, the checkboxes still had the old style, and you had to click exactly on a checkbox to check or uncheck it. The checkboxes now match the rest of the site, and clicking anywhere on a label's row, including its name or description, checks or unchecks it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41386
  • BUGFIX: If you opened a member's page from a filtered, sorted, or searched Members list, such as the Bouncing members, Save and Cancel took you back to that list, but only if you hadn't visited any of the member's other pages. After going to their Email Delivery History, Activity History, Notes, +owner Messages, or Subgroups page and then back to Membership, Save and Cancel took you to the full, unfiltered Members list instead. Saving a moderator note or changing the member's subgroup subscriptions had the same effect. You now return to the list as you left it, including the page you were on, and members opened from the Subgroup Members list return there. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41385
  • CHANGE: A member's page said "This member is bouncing." at the bottom for both bouncing and bounced members. Bounced members now show "This member has bounced.", matching the Bouncing and Bounced badges at the top of the page. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41385
  • CHANGE: When the Members page was filtered to Bouncing members, the Actions menu offered only Remove, Send Bounce Probe and Send Message. It now has the same actions as the other filters, including Ban, Change Email Delivery, Change Moderation, Change Color, Change Member Labels and Change Member Notifications, as well as Send Bounce Probe. Send Bounce Probe is now also offered when Bouncing is combined with other filters. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41389
  • BUGFIX: On Basic groups, Change Member Notifications was missing from the Members page's Actions menu, except when it was filtered to Moderators, even though notifications can be changed on a member's page in any group. It is now always offered to moderators who can change member settings.
  • NEW: The Actions menu on the Members page has a new Add Moderator Note action. It adds the text you enter to the moderator notes of every checked member, on a new line after their existing notes, so you can keep a running log for a set of members, such as "10/16 - second warning about topic hijacking". It is available to moderators who can manage members and is logged in the Activity log for each member. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41389
  • BUGFIX: In groups where members can see the member list, the Members page didn't check that the person making a change to members was a moderator with permission to make it. The Actions menu only showed those actions to moderators. Each action on the Members page is now checked against the moderator's permissions.
  • BUGFIX: The email sent to members directly added to a subgroup always told them the address to send email to the group, even when the subgroup was announcement-only and they couldn't post to it. That sentence is now left out for announcement-only subgroups, as it already was in the email for members directly added to a main group. The sentence also said "the groups" instead of "the group". https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41050
  • BUGFIX: On the wiki edit page, clicking Discard briefly showed the page's raw HTML before going back to the previous page. The same happened when going back with the browser's Back button from any page with the message editor. The editor now stays hidden while the previous page loads. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41317
  • BUGFIX: In the wiki Image Library, selecting or dropping a file in the Upload File window left an empty preview box, and the window stayed that way for every later upload until the page was reloaded. The selected image now shows in the preview each time. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41317
  • CHANGE: In the wiki Image Library, the Delete button sat between Cancel and Insert. It is now on the left, away from Insert, with Cancel and Insert together on the right. Add New and the Upload File window's Add button now use a plus icon. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41317
  • CHANGE: The Yes button in the wiki's Verify Edit window now uses the same checkmark icon as other confirmation buttons. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41317
  • CHANGE: On the wiki edit page, Page History and New Page left the page without warning, losing any unsaved edits. They now open in a new tab. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41317
  • BUGFIX: On the group Settings page and other group pages, pressing Enter in a text box saved the changes and showed "Your changes have been saved", but the text box still had its focus outline, so it looked like it was still being edited. After a successful save, focus now moves off the field. If the save fails, focus still stays on the field with the error. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41320
  • CHANGE: The only way to leave a group from its home page was the Unsubscribe email address, and the Subscription section at the bottom of the page just said "You are subscribed to this group." It wasn't shown on phones at all. The Subscription section now has Edit Subscription and Unsubscribe links and is shown on all screen sizes. Unsubscribe takes you to your Subscription page and opens the confirmation window, which still offers to switch you to Daily Summary or Special Notices Only instead. The Leave Group buttons on the Subscription page and on the page you reach from the unsubscribe link in group emails are now called Unsubscribe, matching the rest of the site. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41102
  • BUGFIX: On a message page, if you discarded a reply and then clicked Reply again, the reply window came back with the discarded text and kept trying to save it to the deleted draft. That showed a "There was an error saving the draft" alert with a retry countdown and another asking you to reload the page, and clicking Send didn't send the reply. It saved it as a new draft instead. Clicking Reply after Discard now starts a new reply. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41323
  • BUGFIX: The Drafts count in the sidebar didn't change when you started writing a reply on a message page or discarded one, until you went to another page. It now updates as soon as the reply is first saved or is discarded. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41323
  • BUGFIX: If a draft you were writing was deleted in another window, the editor kept trying to save it and showed an error alert with a retry countdown again and again. It now stops trying and tells you once that the draft was deleted, so you can copy your text before leaving the page. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41323
  • BUGFIX: In the **Sort By** menus on the Photos, album, and photo search pages, the up and down arrows next to each choice were the wrong way round, so choosing an option with an up arrow sorted the other way from what you expected and showed a down arrow once the page reloaded. Ascending choices now show an up arrow and descending choices a down arrow, matching the Sort By label and the sort arrows on other pages. On album pages, the arrow in the Sort By label itself was also reversed, and now matches too. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41299
  • BUGFIX: Messages written in Markdown on the website looked different in the group's archive than in the editor's preview. Headings, lists, and paragraphs had extra blank lines between them, so the message looked spread out. The same happened on the Pending Messages page when moderators reviewed a Markdown message. Markdown messages now look the same as in the preview.
  • NEW: A new [Security](https://groups.io/static/security) page, also at groups.io/security, summarizes how Groups.io protects your groups and data: where data is hosted, encryption, account security, monitoring, backups, incident response, and how we use AI. It also lists the documents institutions can request for a security review, such as our HECVAT and VPAT. It's linked from the sidebar on the Terms, Privacy Policy, and other policy pages.
  • CHANGE: The [Subprocessors](https://groups.io/static/subprocessors) page, last revised in 2018, has been brought up to date. Each subprocessor now says what it does for Groups.io instead of "Cloud Service Provider". AI providers have their own section, which notes that their terms do not let them train on the data we send. Spur, used to check IP addresses to prevent fraud and abuse, and Tailscale are now listed, and Google is listed for both mobile push notifications and support email.
  • CHANGE: On the Members page, using an action from the Actions menu cleared the members you had checked, so you had to find and check them again to make another change. Members now stay checked after Change Email Delivery, Change Moderation, Change Color, Change Member Labels, Change Member Notifications, Add Moderator Note, Send Bounce Probe, Resend Pending Notice, and Claim, including members checked on other pages. Remove, Ban, Unban, Approve, Reject, and Delete still clear the checks, since those members leave the list. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41459
  • CHANGE: On View RSVPs, changing the response of the checked attendees cleared the checks. They now stay checked.
  • BUGFIX: On the Members page, choosing Send Message when all the checked members were on other pages of the list started a message with no recipients. The message now goes to every checked member.
  • BUGFIX: The Resend Pending Notice button on a member's page was only shown in one group. It is now shown for pending members in any group with a pending member notice.
  • BUGFIX: Members whose request to join was waiting for approval saw Drafts in the sidebar, and clicking it took them to the group's home page. Drafts is no longer shown until the membership is approved. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41458
  • BUGFIX: Members of announcement-only groups, and members not allowed to post, saw Drafts in the sidebar, but clicking it took them to the group's home page. They can now open their Drafts.
  • BUGFIX: On the page shown after you ask to join a group, the group's name in the breadcrumb wasn't a link to the group's home page. It now is. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41458
  • CHANGE: When a group sends a pending member notice to people who ask to join, the page shown after asking to join now tells you that the group managers have emailed you about your request, that you may need to reply before you can be approved, and to check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41458
  • BUGFIX: After sending or cancelling a message to a member from their profile page, you were taken to the Member Directory, or to the group's home page if you can't see the directory. You now go back to the member's profile. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41457
  • CHANGE: The Send To Member button on the page for sending a message to members is now green with a paper airplane icon, like the Send button for new topics and replies. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41457
  • BUGFIX: Some email providers send vacation and out-of-office replies to the address group messages are sent from, which is used to collect bounces, instead of the group. Each of those replies was recorded as a bounce for the member, showing "Unable to parse bounce message" in their Email Delivery History. Auto-replies are now ignored and no longer counted as bounces.

October 15, 2026

  • CHANGE: The two buttons on the groups.io home page weren't labelled, and the Log In button was a pale outline next to the solid green Get Started for FREE button. Each button now has a heading saying who it's for: "New to Groups.io?" above Get Started for FREE, and "Already a member of a group?" above Log In. Log In is now a solid blue button, with the how-to-log-in video link under it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41423
  • CHANGE: Members whose login had expired landed on the groups.io home page when they went to groups.io, and had to click Log In to get to the login page. They are now taken straight to the login page, as they are when they follow a link to a group page. Members who logged out on purpose, and people who have never logged in, still see the home page, and groups.io/home always shows it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41423
  • CHANGE: When you replied to the sender of a message on the website, you could delete Private: from the subject, and the reply would arrive looking like a group message. Replies sent only to the sender now always start with Private:, and it's put back if you delete it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41425
  • BUGFIX: When you replied to the sender of a message, the group's subject tag was always added to the subject, even if it was already there, so it could appear twice. It was also added in the wrong place if Private: or Re: weren't typed exactly that way. The tag, Private: and Re: now each appear only once, in that order. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41425
  • API BUGFIX: The same fixes apply to replies sent to the sender with `/postdraft`.
  • CHANGE: Sorting the Members page by a column cleared any members you had checked. Checked members now stay checked when you sort, including ones checked on other pages. The same applies on Pending Messages, your own Pending Messages, Drafts, View RSVPs, and Direct Add for subgroups. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41424
  • BUGFIX: On the Members page, Drafts, and a member's Subgroups page, if you unchecked something you had checked before going to another page, it was checked again when you changed pages. Unchecked rows now stay unchecked.

October 13, 2026

  • BUGFIX: In the Verify Merge window, if the subject of the topic you were merging into contained a double quote, the subject was cut off at the quote and replaced with a backslash. Single quotes were shown as `\u0027`. Subjects are now shown exactly as written. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41392
  • CHANGE: The Yes button in the Verify Merge window now uses the same checkmark icon as other confirmation buttons. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41403
  • BUGFIX: Quotes and other special characters in topic subjects, file and folder names and descriptions, chat member names, and pending message senders could break the menus and confirmation windows that use them. These are now handled correctly everywhere.
  • CHANGE: Hovering over or tabbing to the Moderator Note icon on the Members page and a member's page now shows the note itself and when it was last updated, instead of just "Has Moderator Note". Long notes show their end, where the newest entries usually are. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41395
  • BUGFIX: In groups where members can see the member list, ordinary members could see the Moderator Note icon next to members who had a note. The icon is now shown only to moderators who can manage members.
  • BUGFIX: In groups where members can see the member list, searching the Members page also searched moderator notes, so ordinary members could find out which members had notes containing a word. Moderator notes are now searched only for moderators who can manage members.
  • API BUGFIX: `/searchmembers` also searched moderator notes for callers who could not read them. Moderator notes are now searched only for callers with permission to manage members.
  • API BUGFIX: `/searchmemberdirectory` didn't follow the rules of the member directory on the website. It required permission to view the member list instead of the member directory, searched every extra member data field, returned pending, banned and unconfirmed members and members with private profiles, and let members whose own profile is private search. It now matches the website: it requires the `view_member_directory` permission, searches only the extra member data fields marked Viewable In A Member's Profile, returns only active members, shows members with private profiles only to moderators and owners, and returns an `inadequate_permissions` error to members whose own profile is private. Moderators and owners can now also search by email address, as on the website.
  • BUGFIX: Searching the Activity log only found whole words, and parts of email addresses and hostnames weren't always separate words. For example, searching for `asourcing` didn't find `info.asourcingelectronics-ic.com`. Searches made up of plain words now also match those words anywhere inside an email address, hostname, or name, so you no longer need to add `*` wildcards. Searches for a full email address still match only that address. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41412
  • CHANGE: On the groups.io home page, the only button was Get Started for FREE, which goes to the Pricing page, so members who came to log in clicked it and couldn't find their way in. On phones, the Log In link was also hidden in the menu. The home page now has a Log In button next to Get Started for FREE, and a note for existing members with a link to the how-to-log-in video. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41399

October 12, 2026

  • API BUGFIX: Polls created with `/newpoll` were never attached to a topic: the response had a `msg_num` of 0, and the poll showed as deleted on the website. `/newpoll` now posts the poll to the group as a new topic and returns it with its `msg_num`.
  • API BUGFIX: `/updatepoll` failed instead of updating the poll. It now updates the poll and edits its topic.
  • API BUGFIX: When posting a poll failed because it was too big, was sent to an announcement-only group by a non-moderator, or had a bad attachment, `/newpoll` and `/updatepoll` returned the error followed by the poll in the same response. They now return just the error.
  • API CHANGE: Removed the `announce` parameter from the `/newpoll` and `/updatepoll` documentation. It was never used; polls are always posted to the group as a topic. Callers that still send it are unaffected.
  • INTERNAL: dbfetch can now look up polls by ID, group, or user, including polls that were never attached to a message.
  • CHANGE: Member labels on a member's page were larger than on the Members page and didn't use its label text style, so they looked like the Set Labels button next to them. They now look the same as on the Members page. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41394
  • CHANGE: Member label tooltips on the Members page and a member's page now show the label's description as well as its name. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41384
  • CHANGE: The Moderator Note icon on the Members page and a member's page is now solid and darker, so it stands out next to the member's badges. It now also shows its tooltip when you move to it with the keyboard and is read out by screen readers. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41384
  • CHANGE: On the single-message page, the topic subject was a lower-level heading than the messages under it. It is now a level 2 heading, as on the topic page. Each message's heading for screen readers is now just the sender's name, without "Message from" and the date, which is read right after it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41398
  • CHANGE: After you submitted an Export Group Data request, the page showed only a confirmation box, and closing it left a blank page. You now return to the export form with the confirmation notice at the top, as on other pages, so you can start another export. The confirmation's close button was also missing its X. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41402
  • BUGFIX: Clicking Export Group Data with nothing selected emailed you an empty zip file. It now asks you to select the data you want to export. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41402
  • BUGFIX: Going to an Admin page from a link outside the sidebar, such as the Export button on the Topics or Messages page, highlighted it in the sidebar but left the Admin menu collapsed, so nothing looked selected. The sidebar now opens the menus around it. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41402

October 9, 2026

  • CHANGE: When a moderator sends a message to a single member from the Members page or a member's page, the subject now starts with `[DM]`, as it does for messages members send each other from a profile. Before, these messages had only the group's subject tag, so they looked at first like they had been sent to the whole group. Messages a moderator sends to several members at once are unchanged. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41340
  • BUGFIX: In groups without a subject tag, direct messages between members didn't have `[DM]` at the start of the subject. They now do.
  • BUGFIX: Deleting a sub-album in Photos took you back to the top-level Photos page. It now takes you to the album the sub-album was in. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41363
  • BUGFIX: When a moderator changed a member's email address, the Member Account Change Notification sent to that group's moderators said "A moderator in another group changed…", even though the change was made by a moderator of that same group. The notification now names the moderator who made the change, as it already did for display name changes. Other groups the member belongs to still get "A moderator in another group changed…". https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41348
  • BUGFIX: After you sent a new topic, reply, or private message, the "Sending is taking longer than expected" message often appeared about 30 seconds later, even though the message had been sent. It could show up on whatever page you had moved on to, such as a member's page or another message. It now appears only when a send is actually still in progress after 30 seconds. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41375

October 8, 2026

  • NEW: Subgroups in Enterprise groups can now have subgroups of their own, one level deep. A subgroup owner creates them from the subgroup's Admin > Subgroups menu, the same way subgroups are created from the main group, so a department can organize its own members without involving the main group's owners. The new subgroup's address and web address are the parent subgroup's name, two hyphens, and its own name: for example `sales--europe@yourdomain.org` and `https://yourdomain.org/g/sales--europe`. That means two different subgroups can each have, say, a `europe` subgroup. Elsewhere on the site these groups are shown as `sales | europe`. This is being turned on for Enterprise groups on request.
  • API NEW: `/createsubgroup` now accepts a subgroup as the `group_id` when the main group allows subgroups of subgroups, and `/getsubgroups` returns a subgroup's own subgroups. New `bad_request` errors describe why a nested subgroup can't be created: `max depth`, `nested subgroups not enabled`, `nested subgroups require an enterprise org`, `root alias missing`, and `name too long`.
  • BUGFIX: On the Subgroup Members page, the Name and Email columns stayed in place while the table scrolled sideways, so with long names or addresses they covered the subgroup columns and the table appeared not to scroll at all. Only the Name column now stays in place, long names are shortened with the full name shown on hover, and the Email column scrolls with the rest of the table.
  • NEW: We've made a large round of accessibility improvements across the website, to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard. People who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, or high-contrast settings should find the site much easier to use. An updated accessibility conformance report (VPAT) is available on request. The changes below are the ones you're most likely to notice.
  • CHANGE: Every page now has a "Skip to main content" link as its first item, which appears when you press Tab. Pages are announced to screen readers when you move between them, and each page has a main heading that names it.
  • CHANGE: Everything on the site can now be used with a keyboard alone, including menus, dialogs, the message editor's image and attachment tools, file and photo actions, database tables, calendar events, chat, polls, map markers, and analytics charts. When you close a dialog or menu, the cursor goes back to where you were instead of to the top of the page. Buttons, icons, and form fields all have names that screen readers read out.
  • CHANGE: Pressing Tab to a button now shows a clear blue-and-white ring around it, so you can always see where you are. It appears only when you use the keyboard, not when you click.
  • CHANGE: Some colors changed so that text is easier to read. Green, red, and blue buttons and badges are slightly deeper. The light blue Info and orange Warning buttons and badges now have dark text instead of white. Several hashtag and label colors (such as cerulean blue, tomato, purple, and blush) are slightly deeper, with white text; the lighter colors now have dark text. Small gray text, such as dates and counts, is a little darker. Several dark mode colors that were hard to read, including table headers, the current page number, and some link-style buttons, were fixed.
  • CHANGE: Links in sentences, help text, and notices, and the author links in topic lists ("Started by", "By"), are now shown in a heavier weight, so you can tell them apart from the surrounding text without relying on color. They're underlined when you point at them or move to them with the keyboard.
  • CHANGE: Tooltips now stay open while you move the pointer onto them, and you can close them with the Escape key. The abbreviated badges on Your Groups and in your feed (P, M, NP, NMM, and others) now have their full meaning available to screen readers.
  • CHANGE: The login form, two-factor code, and passkey recovery forms now stay valid for 20 minutes instead of 4. If one does expire, it's shown again with your email address kept and a message explaining what happened, instead of a blank login page.
  • CHANGE: Error messages that pop up at the top of the page now stay until you close them, instead of disappearing after a couple of seconds. Other notices stay for 10 seconds and don't disappear while you're pointing at them or have moved to them with the keyboard. A failed image upload now shows a message that stays until you close it.
  • BUGFIX: If your login expired while you were writing a message, your later typing could be lost, and the editor kept trying to save without telling you. The editor now keeps what you've written and tells you that your login has expired, with a link to log in again in a new tab so you can come back and send it. Likes and poll votes made after your login has expired now show an error instead of appearing to work.
  • CHANGE: Switching a group between monthly and yearly billing from the Plans page now asks you to confirm, and shows the amount that will be charged, before anything is charged. Donations now show a Confirm Donation step with the amount before your card is charged. The amount is checked first, and a declined card keeps what you entered and suggests what to try next.
  • CHANGE: Deleting a column from a database table now asks you to confirm and says that its data will be removed from every row. Bulk actions on the Members page now name the action and the number of members (for example, "Remove 3 members?") and say when it can't be undone.
  • CHANGE: In chat, you're now told when the connection drops and when it comes back. A message you send while disconnected stays in the message box instead of being lost. New messages, deleted messages, and the typing indicator are announced to screen readers. The "jump to latest message" button can be reached with the keyboard and says how many new messages there are.
  • CHANGE: In Ask, the question box stays in place while an answer is written, and screen readers are told when Ask is thinking, when the answer is ready, and if there's an error. The Copy and Post to Group buttons now have names.
  • CHANGE: On phones, the full title of a topic, chat, or wiki page is now shown on the page itself, since the header can only fit part of it. On very short screens, such as when the browser is zoomed in a long way, the header and bottom bar scroll with the page instead of covering most of it. Pages no longer scroll sideways on narrow screens.
  • NEW: When adding an image from the wiki's image library, you can now enter alternative text that describes the image for people who can't see it.
  • CHANGE: The page after joining a group with a paid membership no longer reloads every few seconds while the payment is confirmed. It now checks in the background, tells you when your membership is ready, and waits for you to click Continue.
  • CHANGE: Pages now tell browsers and screen readers which language they're in, matching the language you've chosen for the site, so screen readers use the right pronunciation.
  • BUGFIX: Posting more than 25 new topics in 10 minutes now shows a message asking you to wait a few minutes, instead of the New Topic form appearing to do nothing.
  • BUGFIX: In version 5.0 of the iPhone and iPad app, tapping a file in the Files section, or an attachment or photo download, always brought up the share sheet asking which app to open it with, instead of showing the file. PDFs, images, Office and iWork documents, text files, and common audio and video files now open right away in the app's viewer again. Other kinds of files still bring up the share sheet so you can choose an app that can open them.

October 7, 2026

  • BUGFIX: When you weren't logged in, clicking "I Agree" on the cookie notice didn't remember your choice, so the notice came back on every page. Your choice is now saved and the notice stays dismissed.
  • BUGFIX: When using VoiceOver on an iPhone or iPad, some key presses caused an error, and the site's keyboard shortcuts didn't respond to them. Those key presses now work normally.
  • BUGFIX: After you scrolled down a Topics or Messages page far enough to load more, the page didn't clean up after itself when you went to another page, so parts of the old page could keep running in the background. In the mobile app, the handlers that hide the bottom bar when the keyboard opens also piled up as you moved between pages. Pages now clean up properly when you leave them.
  • INTERNAL: Pressing a key while a long Topics or Messages page was still loading no longer causes a JavaScript error.
  • BUGFIX: If a draft save reached our servers but the confirmation didn't make it back to your browser, the editor kept re-sending that old save. Each attempt was refused so it wouldn't overwrite the newer copy, and you saw a "There was an error saving the draft" warning counting down to 240 seconds. While that went on, nothing new you typed was saved. We now recognize a repeat of a save that already went through, and the editor keeps saving normally. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41365
  • BUGFIX: If a draft save got stuck on a dropped connection, the editor waited for it forever. It stopped saving your draft without any warning, so posting from Drafts could send an older version. A stuck save now gives up after 30 seconds, shows the retry warning, and tries again. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41364
  • CHANGE: Clicking Send on a new topic, a reply, or a private message to a member now shows "Sending…" and disables the button until the page moves on. Before, a reply's Send button silently ignored further clicks if the first send stalled, and on new topics each click sent again. If sending takes more than 30 seconds, a message asks you to check your connection, and if the page doesn't change, to see whether your message was posted before sending it from Drafts. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41364

October 6, 2026

  • BUGFIX: On the Members page, the member label and color filters were ignored when you also entered a search term or sorted by a custom member data column, so the results included members without the selected labels or colors. Those filters now apply to searches and custom-column sorts too.
  • API NEW: Added member label endpoints: `/getmemberlabels` lists a group's labels, `/creatememberlabel` creates one, `/updatememberlabel` changes a label's name, description, or color, and `/deletememberlabel` deletes one. They require the `manage_members` permission, and labels cannot be created in Basic groups.
  • API NEW: `/getmembers` and `/searchmembers` can now filter the members they return. The `filter` parameter takes the same filters as the Members page (email delivery, posting status, message selection, not confirmed, and others), `label_ids` returns members with any of the given labels, and `colors` returns members with any of the given colors. `label_ids` and `colors` require the `manage_members` permission.
  • API CHANGE: `/searchmembers` now returns each member's `member_labels`, as `/getmembers` already did.
  • BUGFIX: When someone tried to join a group through a VPN or anonymizing proxy, the join form sent them to the home page without saying why, and no confirmation email was sent. The join form now explains that joins through a VPN or proxy aren't accepted and asks them to turn it off and try again.
  • BUGFIX: In the online help center manuals, the expandable sections (headings you click to show more text) looked like links but didn't open when clicked, and glossary terms didn't show their definitions when clicked. Both work again. https://beta.groups.io/g/docs/message/618
  • BUGFIX: On phones and other narrow screens, the Sponsor This Group button didn't appear on a group's home page, because it's in the Group Information section, which is hidden on small screens. The button now appears below the member count on narrow screens. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41358

October 2, 2026

  • BUGFIX: Messages sent to a group from Proton Mail, and occasionally from other email providers, were sometimes bounced with "Invalid request, no reverse DNS", even though the sending server was set up correctly. It happened when a lookup of the sending server's name briefly failed on our end. A brief lookup failure now asks the sending server to try again later instead of bouncing the message, and we check with a second, independent DNS service before treating the lookup as failed.
  • BUGFIX: Since September 30, some messages sent to a group from iCloud (me.com, icloud.com, mac.com) were delivered with a large block of raw, encoded text instead of the formatted message, and failed DKIM checks at Gmail. iCloud began adding stray characters to one of its message headers, and we passed them on to members, which made Gmail and other email programs think the headers ended early. We now remove those characters when a message arrives, so iCloud messages display normally.
  • BUGFIX: When a member's Yahoo Mail account automatically forwarded to another address that rejected the message, the bounce recorded for the member just said "5.0.0", with no hint of the real cause. Yahoo had changed the format of these forwarding failure notices. The bounce now shows the forwarding address and the reason it was rejected, for example that the account doesn't exist, so members and moderators can tell that the problem is the forward and not the member's Yahoo address.
  • BUGFIX: When sending a message to a member from their member page, clicking Discard took you to the group's home page, even though sending took you back to the member page. Discard now returns you to the page you started from: the member page, the Members list, an RSVP or poll responses list, or a chat. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41338
  • BUGFIX: The Bcc: Me and Bcc: All Moderators checkboxes on the Send Message page, and the BCC Me checkbox when replying to the sender or the moderators of a topic, still had the old look. They now match the site's other checkboxes, and clicking the Bcc: Me and Bcc: All Moderators labels on the Send Message page now toggles their checkboxes. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41339
  • BUGFIX: When a member with a group signature replied by email from a program that doesn't mark the earlier message as a quote, such as Samsung Email or Outlook, their signature was hidden on the website in the collapsed "..." along with the earlier message, because the signature was added at the very end, after the earlier message. When a reply is written above the earlier message, the signature is now added between the reply and the earlier message, where email programs put signatures. A signature that still ends up after the earlier message is now recognized and shown. Messages already posted are unchanged. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41335

October 1, 2026

  • BUGFIX: Image descriptions (alt text) containing common punctuation, such as a colon, question mark, ampersand, curly quotation marks, or a curly apostrophe, were silently removed from images in wiki pages and messages, and saving the page again lost them for good. Screen readers then had nothing to read for those images. Descriptions with punctuation are now kept. Descriptions that were already removed can't be restored and need to be entered again.
  • BUGFIX: After entering a wrong two-factor or recovery code when logging in, entering the correct code sent you back to the start of login instead of logging you in. You can now try again with the correct code.

September 30, 2026

  • BUGFIX: If you were set to show 50 or 100 items per page and edited a topic's properties from the second or later page of Topics, clicking Update returned you to Topics showing only 20 topics per page, and paging kept using 20 until you left Topics. Your per-page setting is now kept. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41297
  • BUGFIX: On the Edit Topic Properties page, Cancel always took you to the topic, even if you had come from the Topics list or search results. Update from a topic's own page took you to the first page of Topics instead of back to the topic. Both Cancel and Update now return you to where you came from. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41297
  • BUGFIX: Members of a group that requires two-factor authentication, who hadn't set it up yet, couldn't add a passkey. It failed with errors such as "Failed to add passkey: The string did not match the expected pattern." Adding a passkey now works for them.
  • CHANGE: A passkey now counts as two-factor authentication. Adding one satisfies a group's two-factor requirement, just like an authentication app, and the page asking you to set up two-factor now offers both options. If you have a passkey, you can turn off your authentication app even when a group requires two-factor. You can't delete your last passkey while a group requires two-factor and you have no authentication app.
  • CHANGE: If your only second factor is a passkey, logging in with your password, a login link, or single sign-on now also asks for your passkey, or for one of your recovery codes, before you're logged in. Previously your password alone was enough. Passkeys only work on the site where you added them, so if you added yours on another site (for example, groups.io rather than your organization's own address), you're offered a button to confirm it there. As with authentication apps, logging in with Google or Facebook is no longer allowed for accounts with a passkey.
  • CHANGE: Logging in with a passkey now always requires your device's fingerprint, face, or PIN. Security keys without a PIN set can no longer be used to log in.
  • API CHANGE: For accounts whose only second factor is a passkey, `/login` and `/authenticateloginlink` now return `2nd_factor_required`; supply one of the account's recovery codes in `twofactor`. `/googleloginfinal` and `/facebookloginfinal` now refuse these accounts, as they already do for accounts with an authentication app.
  • INTERNAL: Disabling two-factor from the support queue or admin now also removes the account's passkeys, and the support queue offers it for accounts that only have passkeys.

September 29, 2026

  • BUGFIX: In dark mode, the plain text and Markdown message editors showed dark text on a dark background, making it very hard to see what you were typing. Typed text is now shown in a light color.
  • BUGFIX: When composing in plain text or Markdown with a signature turned on, reopening a saved reply draft showed only your signature instead of the draft, and the next autosave replaced the draft with just the signature. Reopened reply drafts now show their saved text. This affected all groups set to plain text only.
  • BUGFIX: Fastmail users subscribed to a group's calendar feed stopped getting updates, because Fastmail's calendar service was mistakenly treated as an outdated web browser and sent a web page instead of the calendar. Calendar feeds now sync to Fastmail again. The same mistake could also block other apps whose browser identification included punctuation after the version number.
  • BUGFIX: Creating the first subgroup of a group appeared to do nothing: the page stayed where it was, even though the subgroup had been created. Creating later subgroups went to the new subgroup's page, but the sidebar kept pointing at the parent group, so choosing Settings from the sidebar could lead to deleting the parent group instead of the new subgroup. Creating a subgroup now fully loads the new subgroup, sidebar included. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41321
  • BUGFIX: After renaming a group or subgroup in Settings, most of the sidebar links still used the old name and led to an error page. The page now fully reloads after a rename, so the sidebar uses the new name. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41321
  • BUGFIX: After deleting a subgroup, you were taken to whichever of your groups pages you had last visited. You're now taken to the parent group. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41322
  • BUGFIX: On the Create Subgroup page, if there was a problem with the address or description, the subgroup address and visibility you had entered were cleared. They are now kept, and if the address is the problem, the cursor is placed in the address field. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41322
  • CHANGE: When working with a subgroup, the delete button in Settings, the Delete page, and the confirmation dialog now say "Delete Subgroup" and refer to the subgroup, making it clearer which one you're about to delete. "THIS ACTION CANNOT BE UNDONE." is now also shown in bold on the Delete page. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41322
  • BUGFIX: The Muted Hashtags and Followed Hashtags pages showed a "Your Groups" link in their breadcrumb that actually took you to your Feed. On phones, it was the only part of the breadcrumb shown. Those pages now show just their own name, like the other pages in your account's sidebar. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41319
  • CHANGE: The Mute Hashtag, Follow Hashtag, and Unmute Hashtag pages now have a breadcrumb that links back to your Muted Hashtags or Followed Hashtags list.
  • BUGFIX: The "Your Activity" heading on your account's Activity page was always shown in English. It is now translated.
  • BUGFIX: Downloading a large file from a group's Files section over a slower connection could fail partway through with a "Network error", usually after a couple of minutes. It wasn't a size limit: our servers were cutting off any download that ran longer than that. Downloads now run until they finish. The same problem could also interrupt slow uploads of large files. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41301
  • BUGFIX: An interrupted download from a group's Files section could not be resumed; your browser's Resume button started the download over from the beginning. Downloads can now be resumed where they left off, and your browser now shows the file size and time remaining while downloading. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41301
  • INTERNAL: blockerd now blocks IP addresses with firewall sets on the load balancers instead of an nginx deny list, so adding or removing a block no longer reloads nginx.

September 28, 2026

  • API BUGFIX: Calling `/updatemember` without the `member_labels` parameter removed all of the member's labels. The labels are now left unchanged when `member_labels` is omitted; to remove all labels, send a single empty `member_labels` value.
  • API BUGFIX: When `/updatemember` was used to create more than one new label at once, every new label got the first name in `new_label_names`, so only one was created. Each `new_` ID in `member_labels` now uses its own name, color, and description. If a label with that name already exists in the group, it is assigned instead of failing.
  • API BUGFIX: `/getmember`, `/getmembers`, and `/updatemember` never included the `member_labels` field in the member info object, even when the member had labels. They now return it for callers with the manage members permission.

September 25, 2026

  • BUGFIX: On the login page, clicking **Log In** without entering an email address just reloaded the page, with no explanation. The email field is now marked with "You must enter an email address." When the email address doesn't have an account, the email field now says so, and it keeps what you typed. A wrong password was shown as a missing password; it now says "Your email address or password is incorrect." with the link to get a login link or set a password.
  • BUGFIX: Registering with an email address that already had an account could also show a "wrong password" notice left over from the login attempt. Only the "already registered" message on the email field is shown now.
  • BUGFIX: Sending an empty reply took you to your home page. You now stay on the topic, with the message "You must include a message."
  • BUGFIX: On a group's subgroup categories, adding a category without a name took you to the group's home page without saving anything or explaining why. The form now stays open with "You must enter a name." and keeps what you entered. If saving, updating, or deleting a category fails, you now return to the subgroup categories page with an error message instead of the group's home page.
  • BUGFIX: In the wiki, clicking **Add** after choosing an image in the **Add New** image dialog submitted the whole page, which cleared the page title, and the image was never inserted. **Add** now uploads the image and inserts it into the page, and the rest of the page is left alone.
  • BUGFIX: When adding or editing a calendar event, typing a time with a space before AM or PM, such as `4:15 PM`, saved it as 4:15 AM. Typed times are now read correctly, with or without the space.

September 24, 2026

  • BUGFIX: The **Sort By** menus on the Photos, album, and photo search pages, and the **New/Upload** menu on the Files page, couldn't be reached with the Tab key. Several menu items that open a dialog also couldn't be chosen from the keyboard, including **New Folder** and **Upload Files** on the Files page, **Custom Range** on the analytics and activity pages, **Delete This Revision** in the wiki, and **Copy** on the pending message pages. All of them now work from the keyboard.
  • CHANGE: On Your Groups, the badges showing your posting status in each group (**P**, **M**, **NP**, **NMM**, **MF**, and **MT**) were orange, red, or green, which could make an ordinary setting look like a warning. They are now light blue, like the **Mod** and **Owner** badges and the badges in your feed. The members pages that moderators and owners use keep their warning colors. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41278
  • CHANGE: The notes at the top of the group and member Integrations pages, and the messages shown when there is nothing to list on the Pending Messages, Drafts, Chats, Database, and Hashtags pages, were plain grey boxes. They are now the same light-blue box as your settings pages and the Followed and Muted Hashtags pages. On the Hashtags page of a group with no hashtags, the **New Hashtag** button sat right against that box; there is now space between them. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41279
  • CHANGE: The **Create A Subgroup** introduction at the top of the create subgroup page was a plain grey box. It is now the same light-blue box as the notes on other pages. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41285
  • BUGFIX: On the create group and create subgroup pages, choosing private messages opened a confirmation dialog that differed from the one on a group's settings page: the **Yes** button had a minus icon, and the titles and wording varied. Clicking **Yes** also submitted the form immediately, which on the create subgroup page could create the subgroup before you'd finished filling it in. The dialogs now match the settings page, with a check mark on **Yes**, and clicking **Yes** only confirms your choice. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41285
  • BUGFIX: In the **Insert Images** dialog in the online editor, the **Add** button stayed greyed out after choosing a single image, so it could only be inserted by dragging it into the message. Also, image files without a file extension, such as `by DAYS copy`, could no longer be chosen or inserted. The **Add** button is now enabled as soon as you choose an image, and image files are recognized by their contents, whether or not they have an extension. Files that aren't images are still not inserted into the body of a message. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41288

September 23, 2026

  • BUGFIX: When viewing a single message, the current message number between the previous/next arrows was still shown as plain grey text, unlike the current page in the site's other page navigation, which is now highlighted in blue. The message number is now highlighted the same way, both above and below the message. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41258
  • BUGFIX: Changing a database table's structure, such as adding, editing, or deleting a column, changed the **Updated** date of every row in the table to the date of the change. A row's Updated date now changes only when that row's values are edited. Rows whose dates were already changed can't be restored. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41242
  • CHANGE: Giving a moderator most or all permissions meant clicking up to 15 checkboxes one at a time on the member's page. The **Moderator Permissions** section now has **Check All** and **Uncheck All** links, so you can start from everything and remove a few, or start from nothing and add a few. The **Moderator Notifications** section also has a new **Set All To** menu that sets every moderator notification (email and web/app, email only, web/app only, or none) at once; you can still adjust individual settings afterward. Nothing is saved until you click **Save**. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41181
  • BUGFIX: On a member's page, changing someone's role from Owner to Moderator hid the **Pending Members** notification setting even when they still had the Approve Pending Members permission. It now stays visible whenever that permission is checked.
  • CHANGE: Sub-albums were hard to tell apart from top-level photo albums. The album list in the **Move** dialog on a photo's page showed every album by its title alone, in one alphabetical list. It now shows each sub-album's full path, such as `Trips › Scotland`, listed directly under its parent album. Notifications for a new sub-album now say it is a sub-album and link to the album that contains it. The album summaries on the Photos pages now say `1 sub-album` instead of `1 album`. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41261
  • BUGFIX: In a group's Activity log, choosing a different category (such as **Message Activity** or **Member Activity**) while an action from the **All actions** menu was selected changed the button label but kept listing the same entries. Choosing a category now shows that category's activity. If the selected action belongs to the new category, the action filter stays; otherwise, the menu resets to **All actions**. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/40996
  • BUGFIX: The **Insert Images** dialog in the online editor accepted any type of file, including videos. A video inserted this way could look like a working inline image in Safari, but the posted message contained a broken image that pointed to a link that stopped working once the message was sent. The dialog now accepts only images, and the site no longer inserts non-image files into the body of a message. To share a video, add it as an attachment.
  • CHANGE: Your subscription settings page now has the same **Set All To** menu at the top of the **Moderator Notifications** section as a member's page, so moderators and owners can set all of their own moderator notifications (email and web/app, email only, web/app only, or none) at once. You can still adjust individual settings afterward, and nothing is saved until you click **Save**. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41265
  • BUGFIX: After reading an expanded topic, pressing the browser's Back button scrolled the page back up through the topic's messages before switching to the Topics list, instead of returning immediately. Back now returns to the list right away, as before. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41269
  • CHANGE: When deleting a group, subgroup, account, or wiki page, the **Delete** button could be clicked before **I understand** had been entered, or with text that didn't match (such as `I understand:` with the colon copied from the prompt). The page then reloaded without deleting anything or explaining why. The **Delete** button now stays disabled until **I understand** is entered; capitalization and extra spaces don't matter. The prompt now reads "enter **I understand** below:", which keeps the colon away from the phrase. Also, pressing Enter in the **I understand** box on the account deletion page could switch your subscriptions to HTML Digest; it now presses the **Delete** button, and only once that button is enabled. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41270
  • CHANGE: HTML digests were larger than they needed to be. Gmail cuts off any message over about 102KB and shows a "View entire message" link, and a digest could reach that size after only five or six messages. Everything after the cut was missing, including the messages that the **Topics in this digest** links jump to. Digests are now about 40% smaller, so many more messages fit before Gmail cuts them off. Digests look exactly the same as before.
  • BUGFIX: Hovering over a hashtag next to a topic's subject, on the topic and message pages, made it lose its color and show dark text, which was unreadable in dark mode. Hashtags keep their color when you hover over them or open their menu. Hashtags in topic lists also no longer change to the link color on hover. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: In your feed, hashtags in **Active Topics** were shown as link-colored text on a colored background, which was hard to read in light mode, and long hashtag names could break across lines. They are now shown as colored hashtag badges, as in the rest of the site. The badge for members whose first messages are moderated read `NuM`; it now reads `NMM` with the tooltip **New Member Moderated**, as on the members pages. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: When replying to a message, the **Discard** button sat right next to **Send**. It is back on the right side of the reply form. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: On the new topic and reply forms, the **Send As Special Notice** checkbox still had the old style. It now matches the site's other checkboxes. The checkboxes in the **Add Hashtags** dialog (on the new topic, edit topic, add event, and edit pending message pages) also now have the current style, clicking a hashtag's name now checks it, and the dialog's add button now has a **+** icon. Your profile photo in the sender menu on the new topic page is round again. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: On the hashtags page, clicking **Gallery View** or **List View** could leave that icon's tooltip stuck on the screen. Tooltips now close when you move to another page, across the site. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • CHANGE: Editing a hashtag, or changing a hashtag's mute or follow settings, from the hashtags page always returned you to the first page of the list. Saving or cancelling now returns you to the page you were on, with the same sort order and view. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: On the Drafts, Followed Hashtags, and Muted Hashtags pages, the checkboxes still had the old style and the rows didn't alternate colors. Both now match the site's other lists. The button for removing hashtags on these pages was called **Delete** and was blue on Followed Hashtags; it is now a red **Remove** button on both pages, and it stays disabled until you check at least one hashtag. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: The Follow Hashtag page was shown without the sidebar, and the Mute Hashtag page collapsed the sidebar's **Hashtags** menu. Both pages now show the sidebar with the right item selected. The **Follow** and **Mute** buttons stay disabled until you enter a hashtag, and the **Mute** button now shows the mute icon. After muting a hashtag, you were taken to Your Groups or your feed instead of Muted Hashtags; you now return to Muted Hashtags. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: The Enterprise Settings page didn't highlight **Enterprise Settings** in the sidebar.
  • BUGFIX: The note at the top of your profile settings is now shown in the same light-blue box as the notes on your other settings pages. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41276
  • BUGFIX: A few badges and chips still used the old style: the **NC** (Not Confirmed) badge on a member's page, the **RI** badge in the Members page's reverification note, and the label filter chips on the subgroup members and subgroup direct-add pages. They now match the rest of the site.
  • BUGFIX: On a topic's page, the **Previous Topic** and **Next Topic** buttons looked clickable even when there was no previous or next topic, such as **Next Topic** on the newest topic, and nothing happened when you clicked them. They are greyed out again when there is nowhere to go. The **Add Event** button on the calendar, shown to members who can't add events, is greyed out again too.
  • BUGFIX: In the menus on the Files, Photos, wiki, database, analytics, activity, members, and pending message pages, the up and down arrow keys didn't move between menu items. They now do, as in the site's other menus. The wiki menu's **Add Footer** and **Add Sidebar** items are now greyed out when the page already exists.

September 22, 2026

  • CHANGE: Digest and daily summary sender names could be ambiguous when different groups used the same subgroup name. They now use the standard breadcrumb naming, such as `Beta | Main Digest` and `Beta | Main Summary`. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41233
  • BUGFIX: The Actions menu on Your Groups could open behind the top navigation bar when only a few groups were listed, hiding some options. It now opens downward by default and flips upward when needed. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41237
  • CHANGE: Pasting a plain-text URL into the online editor automatically made it clickable, which complicated editing the URL before linking it. Restored the previous behavior: pasted plain-text URLs remain editable text until you press Space or Enter, or use Insert Link. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41228
  • CHANGE: Changed the fourth and final batch of web pages from Bootstrap 3 to Bootstrap 5: the Messages pages (topics, messages, threads, search, hashtag pages, polls, drafts, posting and editing), the mute and follow pages, subscription settings and member notices, your home page and feed, your groups list, your calendar, account settings, login, registration and two-factor pages, profiles, the help center and API documentation, and the site chrome shared by every page (header, menus, sidebars, dialogs). This is plumbing, not a redesign; the pages should look and behave as before. With this batch the whole site is on Bootstrap 5 and the old framework is gone.
  • NEW: Adding a calendar event to Google Calendar required downloading an ICS file and importing it by hand. The **Add to Calendar** button on an event's page is now a menu with two choices: **Google Calendar**, which opens Google Calendar with the event already filled in so you can review it and save it, and **Download ICS file**, which works as before. For repeating events, the Google option adds the occurrence you're viewing and the ICS file still contains the entire series. Event notification emails for events that don't repeat now include an **Add to Google Calendar** link too, and their calendar link is now labeled **Download ICS file**. Events you add this way are separate copies that don't receive later changes. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41223
  • CHANGE: Event pages now include a **Subscribe to group calendar** button for members who can subscribe, so you can follow all of a group's events, including later changes, without going back to the calendar page. The subscription dialog on both pages now includes step-by-step instructions for Google Calendar.
  • BUGFIX: When viewing a single message, the previous/next arrows and message number in the upper right sat slightly lower than the **Msg #** box and the buttons on the left. They now line up. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41253
  • BUGFIX: On the edit photo and edit album pages, the **Cancel** button came before the **Update** button, the reverse of the Database pages and the rest of the site. The update button now comes first, followed by **Cancel**. Also, on a database's settings page, the **Delete Table** button sat between **Update** and **Cancel**; it now sits on the right side, like the **Delete** button when editing a row. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41236

  • DOCS: Updates from Nina.
  • BUGFIX: Clicking an invite link while logged in failed with a "logged in as another user" error when the invitation had been sent to one of your email aliases rather than your primary address, and logging out did not help because the link logged you straight back in. Invitations sent to any of your aliases can now be accepted from the website.

  • BUGFIX: The Enterprise SAML request-signing setting advertised signed authentication requests without actually signing them, and SP metadata omitted the signing certificate. Enterprise owners can now prepare a dedicated certificate, import it into their identity provider, and explicitly enable request signing. SP metadata includes the prepared certificate and accurately reflects whether signing is enabled. Existing configurations remain unsigned until signing is explicitly enabled.
  • NEW: Enterprise SAML settings now support certificate rotation: prepare and publish a replacement alongside the current certificate, activate it after coordinating trust with the identity provider, roll back if needed, and explicitly retire the previous certificate. Settings display certificate fingerprints, expiry dates, and warnings for certificates expiring within 90 days.
